Depicts the modest three story building which was the first home of the Girard Life Insurance, Annuity and Trust Company. Formed in 1836, the financial institution was one of the earliest life insurance companies to attain any degree of long-term success. Girard's Bank underwent a series of name changes and changes of locations, including the Girard Trust Company located at Broad and Chestnut Streets (inset).

Halftone reproduction of a photograph looking down onto the Girard Trust Company building at Broad & Chestnut Streets. Shows lots of traffic at this busy intersection. The landmark building was constructed in 1908. A 30-story skyscraper was built as an addition in 1931.
