Depicts a two-story granite building built in 1872-73. This historic building was designed in the neo grec style by the notable architectural firm of Furness & Hewitt. Additions were made to the original structure in 1888 and 1903.

Depicts distinctive facade of the Provident Life and Trust Company's building, aka Merchant's National Bank building.

Depicts the facade of the National Bank of the Republic, 313 Chestnut Street, which was designed by Frank Furness. Shows a horse-drawn carriage parked in front of the building, and pedestrians on the sidewalk. Built in 1883-84, the building later became the home of the Philadelphia Clearing House, before it was demolished.
