Depicts Franklin Marble Mantel Manufactory fronting on Race Street. Sign on the wall above the doorway announces marble mantels, tombs, etc. neatly executed by Peter Fritz. Men work with slabs of marble on the side of the building, and in the yard across the alley sits tombstones and cemetery ornaments.

Halftone reproduction of a photograph of a block of fine residences opposite Rittenhouse Square. A partial view of Holy Trinity Church is shown on the extreme right, with Church House next to it. Also shows a streetcar and horse-drawn carriages. A wide sidewalk on the left, with trees on either side, borders the park.
