Shows rowhouses on the East side of Front Street below Lombard. Businesses occupy the first floor of what were once private residences.

Shows a row of grand residences in a fashionable neighborhoood overlooking Rittenhouse Square. The white Italian-style mansion dominating the block was built in 1852 by Joseph Harrison, Jr., after designs by Samuel Sloan. Harrison was an internationaly famous engineer, who constructed Russia's first railroad. The house on the right, on the corner of 18th and Locust, was the residence of J. Kearsley Mitchell, noted physician.

Reproduction of a drawing depicting the east side of 5th Street north from Chestnut. Shows a commercial block of stores and other businesses with wagons parked by the roadside and a streetcar in the distance. This block was demolished to make way for the construction of the Philadelphia Bourse Building, which was completed in 1895.
