Notes:
Halftone reproduction of two photographs showing the triangle-shaped land formed by the intersection of York Avenue with Fourth and Fifth Streets. Images used in a magazine article to illustrate the city's neglect of attenuated sites created by two streets intersecting obliquely.
Caption: York Avenue runs diagonalIy betweeen Fourth and Fifth Streets, intersecting the former just below Callowhill Street, and the latter just above Buttonwood. The triangle formed by its intersection with Fifth Street is Union Square, a view of which is given above. The other view represents the intersection with Fourth Street. It, too, should be made a breathing space. One of the two drinking fountains should be kept where it is - the old one marked "Mitchell."
