Notes: Image 1, left: Newspaper article about the history of skating and facilities for skating in the city. Illustration shows a photograph of the old skating rink which stood at 2301 Chestnut Streets. Designed by architect Willis Gaylord Hale in 1891, the building was later home to Briggs Riding Academy, the Arena Riding Academy, Kellick Auditorium & Riding Academy.
