Notes: Item 1, lower left: Postcard view of the Arcade Building, 15th and Market Streets. Built in 1901 after designs by noted architect Frank Furness, the 13-storey office building straddled the sidewalk creating a promenade of shops called the Arcade. A covered skywalk connected the building to the Broad Street Train Station, allowing passengers easy access and egress. Collotype postcard, hand-colored. 8.9 x 11.7cm.
Notes: Item 2, lower right: Postcard view of the Union League building, 140 S. Broad Street. Built in 1865, the classic French Renaissance-style structure is notable for its brick and brownstone facade and dramatic twin circular staircases. Designed by architect John Fraser, the building was extended the length of a city block by famed architect Horace Trumbauer. The Beaux-Arts-style additions were completed in 1910/11.
