Notes: Item 1, top left: Postcard view of the Southwest corner of Market Street and Seventh Street showing the Frank Furness-designed building of the Penn National Bank. Built for the bank in 1884, the building was replaced in 1975 by the lodging house in which Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. Shows a busy intersection with street and pedestrian traffic. Postcard published by Worth Post Card Co., Philadelphia. 13.8 x 8.8cm.
Notes: Item 2, middle left: Postcard view of the Second United States Mint building located at the Northwest corner of Chestnut & Juniper Streets. The Greek temple-inspired building was designed for the mint by noted architect William Strickland. The mint occupied the building from 1833 to 1901. It was razed in 1903. City Hall is seen behind the mint building. Postcard. 13.9 x 8.8cm.
Notes: Item 3, bottom left: Postcard view of the Third United States Mint, located at 1700 Spring Garden Street. The mint moved here in 1901 from their smaller premises on Chestnut Street. The mint remained in production here until 1969, when it moved yet again to more modern facilities at 5th & Arch Streets. Postcard. 13.6 x 8.9cm.
Notes: Item 4, top right: Postcard view of the Philadelphia Bourse building, located at 13 South 5th Street. The Beaux-Arts style building was designed by G.H. & W.D. Hewitt and built from 1893 to 1895. It was one of the first steel-framed building to be constructed. Collotype postcard published by the Busse Art Card Co., Philadelphia. 9.0 x 13.8cm.
Notes: Item 5, bottom right: Postcard view of the Masonic Temple, located at 1 North Broad Street. Built 1868-73 as the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, it was designed in the medieval Norman style by James H. Windrim. Postcard published by the National Art Views Co., N.Y. 8.8 x 13.7cm.
