Single item: Tinted lithograph illustrating a horse-racing event at Point Breeze Park, 26th & Penrose Avenue. Shows two trotters pulling sulkies in front of a two-story clubhouse. Spectators line the two balconies, others stand on the central grassy area of the racetrack. On the left is shown the fully-occupied judges stand. A smaller clubhouse is shown on the far right. The park was founded in 1855 as a venue for thoroughbred racing. It later became a trotting circuit. Automobile races were also held here from the turn of the twentieth century through the 1920s. Published as a sheet music cover c. 1857 for a work entitled Schottisch, composed by George J. Corrie. Image size: 27.8 x 23.3cm
