Notes: Item 1, top: Depiction of Commissioner's Hall located on Spring Garden Street at Thirteenth Street. The Greek Revival style building, designed by architect William L. Johnston, was built in 1848 to house the government offices of the Spring Garden District of Philadelphia County. Wood engraving c.1854. 17.5 x 22.2cm.
Notes: Item 2, bottom: Depiction of the British Barracks, in the Northern Liberties neighborhood. Built in 1757 to serve the British Army, the barracks stood till after the war of Independence. The grounds extended from 2nd to 3rd Street and from Tamany Street to Green Street. Lithograph, 10.8 x 8.9cm.
