Depicts J. B. Lippincott & Co.'s publishing house, 715 - 717 Market Street, and adjacent buildings. Next door, at 719 - 721 is Joel J. Bailey & Co., importers and jobbers of dry goods. Well-dressed pedestrians stroll the sidewalk. A delivery wagon is parked at the curb and two carriages move in opposite directions. A man on horseback is shown in the foreground.The full caption reads: Market Street, from river to river, is the grand entrepot of inland and foreign commerce. Its magnificent width affords ample room and great facilities for the moving of heavy goods; railway tracks are laid down in it, running directly into numerous depots and warehouses direct to distant points.
