An aquatint engraving printed in a warm beige tone, depicting a scene on a tree-lined section of High Street (Market Street.) A stage coach with four horses in harness pulls away from the curbside to begin its journey down the cobblestoned street. Well-dressed people are shown strolling in this upscale neighborhood of substantial brick houses.
Published in Charles William Janson's "The Stranger in America", London, 1807. Text below image reads : Drawn under the Direction of the Author, and engraved by M. Marigot.

Reproduction of an engraving depicting a scene along Market Street teeming with commercial activity. In the background, City Hall Tower is unfinished, which helps date this image to the 1890s.
