Halftone reproduction of the Masonic Temple on North Broad Street across from City Hall. Built in 1873 by architect James H. Windrim, the elaborate Norman-style stone building houses the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.

Advertisement for George Washington Carpenter's Chemical Warehouse incorporating a depiction of the facade of the building flanked on both sides by a listing of "popular" medicines and their uses in the treatment of various ailments. Carpenter was an eminent scientist who, after serving an apprenticeship with a wholesale drug company in Philadelphia, started his own drug business in 1828.
