Printed postcard view of a pen-and-ink drawing of a colonial inn located in West Grove, Chester County, Pa. Established in 1740, it was named after the annual rent of one red rose asked for by the family of William Penn, who owned the land on which it was built.

Shows the facade of a hotel located on the north side of Arch Street between 7th & 8th Streets. Well-dressed people congregate in front of this upper-class establishment. A carriage waits outside the front entrance and a horse-drawn streetcar passes in front of the building.
