Notes:
Depicts the 18th-century tavern on Vine Street below Front Street in which, as its name suggests, a pot of ale could be had for a penny. On the right is shown the bow of a boat at Charles West's shipyard. Beyond the tavern is Griscomb's Academy. Also shows a horse and cart passing the tavern, and a man sitting on a pile of logs near the landing.
