Depicts the Blue Anchor Tavern located at the mouth of Dock Creek. Built by George Guest c1682 the Blue Anchor was the earliest inn or tavern in Philadelphia. It was here William Penn first broke bread on the soil that was to be Philadelphia. Clearly shows an anchor on the sign near the entrance to the tavern. Also shows three people approaching the entrance, and two others fishing from the water's edge. Two rowboats lie on the riverbank and a sailboat is nearing the land.
