"This view into West Philadelphia across the Chestnut Street Bridge shows the river front to be dominated by storage yards for coal, lumber and ice, various light industries, and docks for barges and small watercraft. In the left foreground is the site upon which the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Station was built by Frank Furness in 1888."--OPEP, p. 191.
The bridge with elevated streetcar tracks across Schuylkill River, Market Street Bridge further up river. Metal fence and street lamps on either side of tracks. Lumber and buildings or warehouses on east side of river and buildings and houses on the west side.
