Engraving on wood depicting a procession celebrating the Bi-Centennial. Shows historical tableaux and a military band being watched by a huge crowd filling the sidewalks on the 900 block of Chestnut Street. The building on the right is the new Post Office. Built between 1873 and 1884, it was designed by John McArthur Jr. and Alfred B. Mullett. Other buildings identified are those of Penn Mutual and Philadelphia Record. The Record building was designed by Willis G. Hale and was notable for its unusual facade and for the iron tower, which topped-out 137 feet above the ground.
