Books of Hours are prayer books that were owned by ordinary Christians in Medievel Europe. Because so many of these books were commissioned and passed down from one generation to another, they are among the most common illuminated manuscripts that have survive from that time. The text of this leaf is printed on calf skin which makes it rather unusual.
