Photograph shows the mansion facing Chestnut Street built by Hartman Kuhn, a Philadelphia statesman. The estate was purchased by Matthias Baldwin a railroad tycoon and owner of the Baldwin Locomotive Works. By 1865, the property was used as the clubhouse of the fledgling Union League. In the 20th Century, the site became a home to several theaters including the Randolph Theater.
