Bird's eye view encompassing Philadelphia from the Schuylkill River (bottom) to the Delaware River (top). The agricultural fair grounds and Blockly Almshouse are shown on the strip of West Philadelphia. The covered Market Street Bridge, widened to accept railroad lines, is clearly shown. Other notable landmarks include the Water Works, the Gas Works, Eastern State Penitentiary, Girard College, Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul, Independence Hall, and Spark's Shot Tower. On the Delaware River, Windmill Island is shown opposite the foot of Market Street, and Petty's Island farther north. A variety of vessels ply the river between Philadelphia and Camden, N. J.
