Notes:
Elevated view of the house on the northwest corner of 38th & Chestnut Street built by Chandler Price in 1794 as a country retreat. After his death in 1827 much of the original estate, which extended from 34th to 39th Streets and from Market to Chestnut Streets, was sold to developers. The house remained occupied by Price's daughters until Miss Ellen Price died in 1894.
The undated photograph shows the extent to which the house had been encroached upon by other buildings.
