Reproduction of a watercolor sketch depicting a large brick house in a park-like setting. A man on horseback faces a couple standing at the front door. William Warner (1627-1707) a prominent early Pennsylvanian was one of the first Europeans to settle on the west side of the Schuylkill River. In 1677 he purchased a vast estate stretching from the river to beyond 48th Street giving it the name "Blockley" after his home in England. Warner was a justice of the peace and a member of Penn's first Assembly. He died in 1707.
