It's crunch time for voters

By Shannon G RSS Wed, October 22, 2008

As you may have noticed, we have a presidential election quickly approaching. With less than two weeks until you cast your ballot, it’s crunch time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of media coverage that has been surrounding this election—that’s why the Library has compiled a resource guide for everything election-related. You can also let sites such as RealClearPolitics.com and Politico.com do the dirty work for you—they cull the best political commentary from various sources and present it to readers on their respective sites. Happy voting!

Your homepage asks readers to "check the facts and make an informed vote," after which you post a link to a podcast by Paul Krugman. Mr. Krugman has written books and hundreds of columns highly critical of the GOP and conservative economic policies, and he has endorsed Barack Hussein Obama for president. If you are trying to push your readers toward voting for Democrats, at least have the courage to say so plainly. As it is, your "informed vote" message is clearly biased.

Interesting point. From reading other posts on this site, though, I'd have to say the link to Krugman's podcast was completely unrelated to politics. When Alex Ross (an upcoming author lecturer) was awarded the MacArthur 'genius' grant, they did a blog on him. When two recent author lecturers were named nominees for the National Book Award, the blog promoted their recognition. I think it's more about showcasing the award-winning authors that have visited/are visiting the library than it is about politics.

That's a very interesting list even after the elections are over. Political politics is extremely interesting, presently or historically, like a sporting match-up with a little "real world" flavor baked right in.
