The Free Library is thrilled to welcome the community back to its recently renovated and reopened branches: Lawncrest Library, Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library, Kingsessing Library, and Frankford Library!
After much anticipation, each of these branches has been thoughtfully modernized to include improved ADA accessibility features, as well as an overhaul of the library buildings, furnishings, and facilities. Read on for a breakdown of some of the new features patrons can expect from each of the newly improved branches.

In addition to ADA enhancements at each branch, Lawncrest Library received new seating, an expanded computer area, and a community gathering space with a kitchenette. Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library now has an outdoor amphitheater, an interactive play area, walking paths, and new furniture throughout. Kingsessing Library added a new community classroom, bike station, and furniture. Patrons of the Frankford Library can enjoy new study rooms, meeting rooms, and expanded areas for children and teens.
To show appreciation for the community’s patience during renovations, the Free Library marked each reopening with a festive ribbon-cutting celebration featuring music, free giveaways, food, face painting, and balloon animals.

We continue to work towards updating our branches (some of which are 100+ years old!) and improving patron accessibility. This summer, with the Capital Programs Office, we are repairing the roof at McPherson Square Library. We are also replacing and repairing HVAC heating/cooling systems at several branches. In addition, we look forward to reopening our Richmond Library and Paschalville Library branches soon after extensive repairs.
