If you are a first-time job seeker, or if you are considering switching from the private to nonprofit sector, check out the Idealist Guide to Nonprofit Careers. This comprehensive text offers great information on what embarking on a career in nonprofits really means, so that you can determine if working for a nonprofit is really a good fit for you. The Guide also offers no-nonsense advice on the realities of the nonprofit job market, the importance of networking, and recommendations for how to best approach the interview process.

Grantspace’s Knowledge Base is a great source for finding quick and reliable information on all aspects of nonprofit work—including employment. This site offers recommendations on how to adjust your resume for a nonprofit job listing and how to locate salary information to help you intelligently negotiate. Plus, they have great articles to help you brush up on common nonprofit job skills like fundraising and proposal writing!
