Are you planning for Black History Month in Your Classroom? Join the Free Library for a Teacher Café!

By Molly B. RSS Tue, January 15, 2019

Throughout 2019, the Free Library’s School Partnerships team is continuing to think big about strenghtening and sustaining partnerships between schools and libraries across the city. We want to ensure that every educator has access to all of the fantastic resources and support that can add value to their work with students.

What can partnering with the Free Library mean for your classroom? From exciting Author Events and competitions like our recent Sixth Grade Book Battle with Young Adult author Sharon Flake, to storytime programs that bring literature to life, to the Rare Book Department’s Travelling Treasures series, a special collection of rare literary artifacts that can be touched and felt by students in their own classroom—there is always something happening at the Free Library that can transform a school day.

And, if are you looking for specific classroom resources as you plan your curriculum throughout the year, School Partnerships has even more to share!

This month, we are excited to launch a behind-the-scenes, interactive series of programs for educators who want to learn more about the dynamic tools, connections, and resources that the Free Library can provide: Teacher Café!

K-12 teachers and other educators across Philadelphia are invited to join us for the inaugural Free Library Teacher Café, Dynamic Classroom Resources for Black History Month.

Join us at Parkway Central Library on Wednesday, January 23rd from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. We’ll start with a Teacher Appreciation Reception and a fast-paced, interactive discussion of Free Library tools and resources to inspire and support your classroom plans for Black History Month and beyond.

4:00 p.m.: Teacher Appreciation Reception begins

4:30 p.m.: Free Library "Ignite Talks" offering a range of FLP Black History Month resources for educators
