Philadelphia City Institute Library Welcomes Billy the Goat!

By Erin H. RSS Mon, September 17, 2018

"Meet you at the goat!"

This common refrain can be heard from parents and caregivers all around the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Billy the Goat, a statue in Rittenhouse Square, has been the centerpiece of a popular play space in Center City for young children for years. No matter the weather, if you walk through the Square, you will see little ones climbing on and playing around Billy. Because he has been so well loved and is showing signs of significant wear, he is being recast, and the original Billy sculpture will be...[drumroll please]...moved to his new home in the Children's Room of the Philadelphia City Institute Library in just a few days!

The Billy statue has been the meeting place for outdoor children's programming at our library for years, including storytimes, Book Bike events, and our annual Halloween Preschool Costume Parade. Please join us for a very special Welcome Billy Storytime on Monday September 24 at 4:00 p.m.

We are beyond excited to welcome him!
