Thursday, October 9 is National Depression Screening Day. Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services is encouraging citizens across the city, including all city employees, to take this anonymous, free questionnaire. They will also host an information table and offer the questionnaire in person at the Parkway Central Library on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The questionnaire is confidential, assesses depression, anxiety, and stress, among other issues, and provides users with resources for help, such as hotlines, websites, and care centers tailored to their responses. The purpose of National Depression Screening Day is to raise public awareness about mood and anxiety disorders, combat public stigma around mental illness, and increase public and inter-personal communication about these issues.
The Free Library takes very seriously the health needs of our users and our city and seeks to offer health services and information for all who seek them. Our mission to advance literacy includes health literacy. Learn more about yourself and the resources available to all of us. The assessment takes just a few minutes – give it a go: for your health!
