Here are the Top 10 ebooks downloaded from the Free Library's OverDrive Digital Library in July 2014.

More than 64,600 ebooks were checked out and downloaded for the month!

Taking the number one spot is the newest mystery for super sleuth Corman Strike to solve in Robert Galbraith's followup to the best-selling The Cuckoo's Calling. Mystery and Suspense filled the majority of the spots in this month's Top 10, all with similar themes of death and disease. Not quite light summer reading but perhaps page tuners nonetheless? For some straight up escapist Fantasy, Deborah Harkness' finale book in the All Souls trilogy made this month's list, and in the perennial Romance genre, Nora Roberts and Robyn Carr both serve up stories with happy endings.

The following list comprises titles from across all genres, downloaded from both our website and mobile site.

1.		The Silkworm (fiction, mystery thriller) by Robert Galbraith The second Corman Strike whodunnit from Robert Galbraith (a.k.a. J.K. Rowling) is just as suspenseful a mystery as The Cuckoo's Calling, if not more so. This time around a well-known novelist pens a tell-all book that if published could ruin the lives of many people. Suspects abound when the author is murdered and it's up to Detective Strike and his assistant to find out who committed the macabre murder. A finely crafted crime caper that you won't be able to put down!
2.		A Matter of Choice (fiction, romantic thriller) by Nora Roberts No stranger to these lists, Nora Roberts' re-release of this 1984 novel is a suspenseful romance with plenty of action, if not a bit dated in its character development . NYPD Sergeant James “Slade” Sladerman is sent undercover to stop an international smuggling ring but in the process falls for an antique shop owning, headstrong heiress.
3.		The Book of Life (fiction, fantasy) by Deborah Harkness The third and final book in the All Souls Trilogy is like Harry Potter for grownups. Deborah Harkness fills her books full of witches, vampires, and demons, as well as the 'ol sci-fi staple of time travel, but everything is portrayed in a realistic light as opposed to a purely fantastical one. Will the witches' true discovery finally be revealed after all these years? A totally immersive reading experience!
4.		The Promise (fiction, romance) by Robyn Carr Scott Grant is a widowed father of two and practicing doctor in a small town. Peyton Lacoumette has moved to Thunder Point to give her life a fresh start and applies for a job at Dr. Grant's practice. Neither of them were looking for romance, but both have found something in each other that they can't deny. Carr's novel about overcoming loss and finding unexpected love is another worthy addition to her Thunder Point series.
5.		Big Little Lies (fiction, suspense mystery) by Liane Moriarty Big Little Lies is a cracked mirror vision reflecting the dysfunctional world of three women and their families. Madeline, Celeste, and Jane all have secrets and will do anything to protect their lives built on lies. But after a tragic accident, can they spin enough lies to cover up a murder? Smart and scandalous, shocking and sad, Liane Moriarty's novel will have you gasping and guessing what is really going on until the very last page.
6.		Everything I Never Told You (fiction, mystery) by Celeste Ng Another book about families and a mysterious death is Celeste Ng's Everything I Never Told You. This suspenseful and emotionally complex story deals with the death of an Asian American teenage girl in small-town 1970's Ohio and how her family unravels from the conflicts, secrets, and betrayals in the aftermath. The book also explores the divisions between cultures and the rifts within the family, as they and the reader try to find out what really happened.
7.		Four Divergent Stories: The Transfer; The Initiate; The Son; The Traitor (YA sci-fi) by Veronica Roth "The Transfer" made our list back in May, now the other Divergent universe backstories join the list this month as the spotlight is on Tobias Eaton, a.k.a. Four. This companion novel compilation to the Divergent series four novellas that give readers an electrifying glimpse into the history and heart of Tobias, setting the stage for his pivotal role in the epic Divergent saga.
8.		Terminal City (fiction, mystery thriller) by Linda Fairstein The 16th book in the Alex Cooper detective series, Terminal City is a New York City nighttime suspense thriller set against the backdrop and history of Grand Central Station. Assistant DA Cooper and Detectives Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace find themselves hunting for an elusive killer whose only signature is carving a carefully drawn symbol into his victims’ bodies, a symbol that bears a striking resemblance to train tracks. Will the killer be stopped before the President of the United States arrives via train for a United Nations meeting?
9.		The City (fiction, mystery thriller) by Dean Koontz Dean Koontz returns to the literary spotlight with a new novel, filled with supernatural elements and the music of life brimming from every page. The City centers around a young boy who is a musical prodigy and the mysterious woman who holds the keys to his future. Aided by his friends and family, Jonah must fight defeat a band of killers about to tear apart the very fabric of "The City". A story that resides at the intersection between the magical and the magnificent.
10.		The Fever (YA fiction, suspense thriller) by Megan Abbott The panic unleashed by a mysterious contagion threatens the bonds of family and community in a seemingly idyllic suburban community in The Fever. Secrets emerge, friendships fail, and families fall apart as the illness runs rampant through the area high school. The disturbed drama is like a modern day coming of age morality play that adds in doses of horror and the supernatural for suspense's sake.
