In July, we launched the Find a Location, Calendar of Events, and I Would Like To... features to our mobile website, and today I would like to share a couple cool new features.

  • Podcasts – Instantly listen to your favorite author events that take place at Parkway Central Library on your mobile phone or download and listen later!
  • Blog – Read our blog formatted for mobile devices.
  • Book Reviews – Want to know what our librarians and staff are reading? Now you can easily view all the book reviews added to our catalog.
  • Social Networking – View quick links to our social networking sites.
  • What We’re Reading – See the featured “What We’re Reading” books on our homepage.

Don’t forget, you can always view your library card account, search the catalog, and place holds on our mobile site.

Our mobile website is optimized to be viewed on mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, Kindle, Palm Pre, etc.), so pull out your device and check out: http://freelibrary.org/mobile!

public libraries have become de facto daytime shelters for the nation's street people; while librarians are increasingly our unofficial social workers for the homeless (and often the disturbed). It's a dirty little secret that tells us all too much about the state of our nation today.

I took my first when I was 32 and that aided me very much. But, I require the collateral loan once more time.

Libraries form an intrinsic part not only of our culture but also our community. Here in the UK, due to reasons of cuttings costs, quite a few libraries are due to be closed down, something which has understandably caused a bit of an uproar. I hope that the US will not go down this same road! Jose Amadeus
