The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO). Corporations that make a donation are eligible to receive 75% of their contribution in tax credit.

One Book, One Philadelphia – a designated EITC program

A joint project of the Mayor's Office and the Free Library, One Book, One Philadelphia promotes reading, literacy, and community by motivating tens of thousands of people to read an annual featured selection and come together for engaging discussions and more than 100 thematically related programs with community partners throughout the city. Thousands of copies of the One Book featured selection are also distributed to Philadelphia school students for use as part of their English curriculum.

Summer of Wonder – a designated EITC program

For over 25 years, the Free Library's renowned Summer Reading program has encouraged more than 1 million children to prevent "brain drain" and keep reading and learning during the summer months. More than 50,000 children and teens participate in this popular program each summer.

Literacy Enrichment After-School Program (LEAP) – a designated EITC program

As one of Philadelphia's longest-running out-of-school time programs, LEAP provides free homework assistance, leads hands-on STEAM and humanities programs, and promotes a love of reading at libraries throughout the city. The program fosters an inclusive, informal learning environment for children, teens, families, and caregivers, with accessible recreational activities that build on life skills, career exploration, Maker philosophies, and mindful social-emotional development. Under the mentorship of neighborhood librarians and our trained staff, LEAP creates safe spaces for youth to explore their interests.
