The Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP) offers K-12 out-of-school programming that fosters an inclusive, informal learning environment for children, teens, and families, with accessible learning activities that build on life skills, Maker philosophies, and wellness concepts.

During the 2023-2024 School Year, LEAP:

  • is available at Free Library locations throughout Philadelphia.
  • is offered during the school year at no cost - and no registration required to participate.
  • promotes a love of reading and literacy.
  • introduces hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and Humanities programming.
  • offers free homework assistance.

Contact your local library to learn about their LEAP activities.

LEAP advances teen and adult workforce development by employing After-School Leaders and Teen Leadership Assistants during the academic year. These roles support youth learning at neighborhood libraries and engage in professional and life-skills workshops, as well as offering in-person homework assistance.
