Engraved portrait of Edward Collings Knight, 1813 - 1892, a prominent Philadelphia businessman. A sugar refiner who pioneered the importation of molasses from Cuba. He was also a Director of various Railroad Companies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and was at one time President of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He was for years a Director of the Union League and an active promoter of the Bi-Centennial Association. [Source: New York Times obituary, published July 22, 1892.]
