As easy a read as the first volume, but also one that generated fewer leads for future reading.

The last of Sharpe's adventures in India, as well as the bloodiest.

Weak points are the same as others in the Eternal line - overly long and to many characters - but the final 100 pages are a rip-roaring race to the finish.          

Another entry in the series, another revelation about the Indian wars. The numbers sound fantastical but are rooted in fact - less than 10,000 redcoats lead by Wellington took down an army of over 60,000. Throughout the build-up and the battle, Cornwell continues to add depth and character to his creations, enhancing the players we've met in the previous novel and supplementing them with fresh new faces.

Best of the series so far with well drawn supporting characters and no lag in the action.

Great tale that takes the masters of pulp fiction and has them star in their own collaborative adventure, slightly dinged by for taking so much time to read - for whatever reason it felt much longer than its 371 pages since I could never plow through more than 30 or so pages at a time.

Another excellent entry from Cussler and his longest running collaborator. Combining an interesting story with a sprinkling of historic tidbits and a fresh (for Cussler) profession of protagonists and antagonists, The Cutthroat is only slightly marked down by an overly sentimental and stylistically odd epilogue.

It took me ten minutes to remember even reading it. Not bad, just...there.

Interesting and well illustrated, but a bit to earnest and preachy.

Finally getting Sharpe into his familiar regiment is nice, but the incongruities and lack of internal continuity between this book and the proceeding volumes is completely jarring. i.e. Sharpe talking about his apprehension at wearing sergeant's strips when he actively fought to get them, mentions of battles in Portugal and India that have never been heard of before, Sharpe's supposed knowledge of caltrops that he 'learned in India' which we were never shown, a remark that Sharpe has only been with the regiment for six months when it should be closer to 4 year at this point - all add up to the worst entry in the series so far.

The title character should never be the least interesting one, and deciding after 50 years to contradict everything and make Mjolnir a sentient god-storm was just stupid.

Compiled as such collections should be, with an appropriately insightful essay that sets the stage for the material, helpful captions that add depth and detail to the photographs, and high quality reproductions of the works themselves. The only ding is for the repetitiousness of the work, but considering the narrow scope of the collection (and most likely of the original source material) that is an inherent problem that no curator could be expected to overcome.

Another treat from Cornwell, all the more so since this one wasn't adapted by the BBC so there were no expectations.

Unlike every other book by the author this is vapid crap. It is a riff on Goodnight Moon, with none of the originality or charm. Marred by clunky couplets with forced, bad, or non-existent rhymes, low-quality art and none of the humor that the author is regarded for, this is a waste for time even for children.

Similar problems to other recent volumes - far to many characters running into the limits of differentiation between black and white illustrations. Without a dozen nose rings its almost impossible to tell the difference between one thin, black-haired white girl and another. Redeemed slightly by the ongoing excellence of Negan.

Another warmed-over, rehashed, reboot with nothing original to say.

Fantastic. Dense, layered, sparse, and painful.

More episodic than preceding volumes - focusing each issue on a different character - but still driving the story forward.
