The man and woman who kneel in prayer on either side of the Virgin and Child probably represent the couple who originally owned the manuscript. Based on a coat of arms on fol. 37v, the original owners have been identified as from the families of Quinard of Languedoc and Venot de Noisy of Burgundy and Lyonnais.
