Notes: Opening showing a coat-of-arms and the Flight into Egypt
Notes: The full-page miniature on the right precedes Vespers of the Hours of the Virgin. The Flight into Egypt is the typical iconography for this Hour. In the image, the columns of the architectural frame are decorated with fleur-de-lys, the symbol of France's royal family. The decoration may refer to the royal affiliation of the original owners, who were from the families of Quinard of Languedoc and Venot de Noisy of Burgundy and Lyonnais. The heraldic emblems of these two families are combined in the coat of arms that appears on the left-hand page. When two coats of arms are combined in this way (or " impaled"), it usually indicates a marriage alliance and suggests that the book belonged to a married couple.
