Author Talk | Peace Like War is Waged
Social Science and History Department at Parkway Central Library
Cost: FREE
One of Jan Barry’s most characteristic beliefs comes from a poem called “The Peacemaker” by Walker Knight: “Peace, like war, is waged."
Join Jan Barry, a Veterans for Peace Poet Laurete and co-founder of Vietnam Veterans Against War (VVAW), to discuss his newest book. Waging Peace: From Vietnam to Volgograd is a collection of essays, poetry, and art. Barry's memoir conveys memorable stories about the transformation of soldiers in war zones into peace activists.
Also joining us is W.D. Ehrhart, to discuss his latest book Smart Fish Don't Bite. Ehrhart is a veteran of the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and he was also a member of VVAW. He is the author of multiple books of prose and poetry, including Vietnam-Perkasie: A Combat Marine Memoir and Thank You for Your Service: Collected Poems.
Both authors will have copies of their books available for sale at the talk.
