Local History Collection Ribbon Cutting
Social Science and History Department at Parkway Central Library
In the Social Science & History Department
The Social Science and History Department is excited to present our revamped Local History Collection!
What changed? Previously only books within a narrow range of call numbers had been shelved in the local history collection. Now, the collection includes books that fall anywhere under the broad SSH call number umbrella that are relevant to the history of Philadelphia and the surrounding region.Travel guides to the Pennsylvania region, which had previously been part of this collection, can now be found with the other travel guides on the north wall of the room.
Come browse the collection, and celebrate with a brief ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m., followed by an author talk from Carol Franklin, landscape architect and author of an award-winning four-part book series on the Wissihickon.
