Please join us for a lecture by Carol Franklin, author of Metropolitan Paradise: Wissahickon Valley 1620-2020, The Struggle for Nature in the City. Published in 2010, the four part book focuses on the social, political, and ecological issues in Wissahickon Park and the adjacent rural/suburban landscape - and can be found in the Local History Collection of SSH!
Franklin was a founding principal of Andropogon Associates - an influential Philadelphia firm that designed sites throughout the city - and also taught in the Department of Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania for 30 years.
