Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Starts November 1, 2016!

By Autumn M. RSS Fri, October 28, 2016

The United States is about to enter its fourth year of Health Insurance Open Enrollment. This year, consumers can sign up for health insurance between November 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017. In order to be insured on January 1, 2017, you must enroll by December 15.

Did you know that Pennsylvania expanded its Medicaid program last year? If you didn’t qualify for insurance coverage in past years, things may have changed; there are now more opportunities for those who have low incomes.

The Free Library is again offering help for patrons who need some guidance going through the process. Our group of expert partner organizations is staffed with federally funded, certified navigators and assisters, and they will work one-on-one with you. If you already have a plan through the Marketplace, you may want to review it for changes and pick a new plan. Our partners can help with this, too.  You can make an appointment to get help at any one of the following Affordable Care Act events at these 17 neighborhood libraries:

To make an appointment online with non-library, local application assisters, please use the Get Covered America Connector.

Parkway Central will also be hosting several Health Fairs, at which you can ask questions and get assistance. Come to 1901 Vine Street between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on one of the following dates:

Still have questions about the Affordable Care Act and what it means for you? The Free Library’s ACA web resources include links to several organizations that explain all the ins and outs. You can also go directly to the Marketplace or call 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325) to get an estimate of what you would pay; find out more about Medicaid; or explore information about coverage for veterans, immigrants, and other populations. Another great resource for anyone who has questions about health insurance is this roadmap from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. And of course, you can also call any of the Free Library’s locations to find out more about the services we are offering. Get covered while you can!
