Choir psalter
Medieval ManuscriptsItem Info
Language: Latin
Folio Number: 61v
Source: Rare Book Department
Notes: A choir (or ferial) psalter contains the Psalms in the order that they were read in the weekly services of the Church. This page contains Psalm 38, which begins, "Dixi custodiam vias meas ut non delinquam in lingua mea" (I said I will take heed to my ways that I sin not with my tongue).
The similarities between the bindings on Lewis E 221-234, as well as their common provenance, suggests that, at least in the eighteenth-century, they served as a set of liturgical manuscripts for a single religious institution.
