Notes: Jacques de Vitry (ca. 1160-1240) was a religious figure whose renown for preaching a new crusade to the Holy Land in 1214 won him the bishopric of Acre. During his time in the East, he accompanied the army of the Fifth Crusade, which took place between 1218 and 1221. His Historia Hierosolymitana, which begins on the page shown here, describes the topography of the East and accounts the events of earlier Crusades.
Notes: The scribe Johannes de Camenago identifies himself in a note on fol. 5r, which reads: "Scriptum opus p[raese]ns fuit per me Johannem de Camenago M[i]len 1459."
