Notes: This initial begins the Introit for the Dedication of a Church, "Terribilis est locus iste ..." (This is a fearsome place). Although slightly later, the style of illumination recalls that of William de Brailes, one of only two known artists working in England in the thirteenth century. De Brailes was responsible for the illumination on another manuscript in the Free Library's collection (Lewis E 29).
