Hands-on History at The Free Library, Parkway Central
Rare Book Department at Parkway Central Library
In this month's Hands-on History we celebrate Philly Theatre Week, as we explore materials relating to two of the most famous theatrical families in Philadelphia: the Drews and the Barrymores. Among the items explored will be:nineteenth century playbills from the Arch Street Theatre, Mrs. John Drew's Arch Street Theatre scrapbook; Eliza Kinloch's Bible with family record; the Barrymore Award, photographs and autographs of various Drew and Barrymore family members, and Lionel Barrymore's mirror.
Take history in the palm of your hand: turn pages, hold manuscripts, and handle artifacts with the Hands-on History series from the Free Library's Special Collections. Curiosity seekers age 13 and up are welcome! Registration is free, but required.
Seating is limited. Click here to get your free tickets!
