The Legacy Lab: Unearthing Records for Black Genealogy
Kingsessing Library
Join our new Black Genealogy Club and learn to research your heritage!
The Legacy Lab initiative celebrates America's 250th anniversary in 2026 by empowering Black community members to research, document, and share their unique family histories. House of Zamani will lead us in developing genealogical research skills over this six-month program series. Registration is encouraged but not required.
This Month: Unearthing Records Beyond the Census
Join us for a deep dive into various record types crucial for Black genealogy, including Freedmen's Bureau records, slave schedules, plantation records, church records, vital records, military records, and historical newspapers.
Next Month: Join us for a joint-session workshop with the Black Genealogy club at the Cobbs Creek Library, learning about Digital Discovery. Saturday, March 21st, at 11:00am. We'll be back at Kingsessing in April!
