The Legacy Lab: Digital Discovery for Black Genealogy
Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library
Join our new Black Genealogy Club and learn to research your heritage!
The Legacy Lab initiative celebrates America's 250th anniversary in 2026 by empowering Black community members to research, document, and share their unique family histories. House of Zamani will lead us in developing genealogical research skills over this six-month program series. Registration is encouraged but not required.
This Month: Digital Discovery and Utilizing Online Platforms
Join us for hands-on training with Ancestry.com using your Free Library card; FamilySearch, and an introduction to DNA testing sites like 23andMe for genealogical purposes—with a focus on interpreting results and privacy considerations.
Next Month: Join us for a joint session with Kingsessing's Black Genealogy club at the Kingsessing Library on Saturday, April 25th at 1:00pm, and learn about Connecting the Dots. We'll be back at Cobbs Creek in May.
