The Legacy Lab: Connecting the Dots for Black Genealogy
Kingsessing Library
Join our new Black Genealogy Club and learn to research your heritage!
The Legacy Lab initiative celebrates America's 250th anniversary in 2026 by empowering Black community members to research, document, and share their unique family histories. House of Zamani will lead us in developing genealogical research skills over this six-month program series. Registration is encouraged but not required.
This Month: Connecting the Dots to Trace Ancestral Lines
Join us for a workshop on strategies for overcoming research roadblocks, utilizing collateral lines, understanding migration patterns, and leveraging local historical societies and archives such as the African American Museum of Philadelphia and Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
Next Month: Join us for a joint session with the Black Genealogy club at the Cobbs Creek Library, for a workshop on Preserving Your Legacy. Saturday, May 16th at 11:00am. We'll be back at Kingsessing in June for our final session.
