The Languages and Learning Center has launched the Leamos! (Let’s Read!) literacy program, with both virtual and in-person classes, to teach Spanish-speaking adults how to read and write in Spanish.

The program is completely free and consists of 43 self-paced instructional lessons, divided into nine modules, during which learners are also paired with a Spanish-speaking tutor to guide and aid them in their learning. Aimed at Spanish-speaking adults, the Leamos! program is also committed to increasing the independence of its students through confidence in their own literacy skills.

"I have lived my entire life without being able to read, and it's been hard," an anonymous program graduate said. "Leamos has helped me read and fill out the forms at the doctor's office. Now, for the first time, I'm able to recognize the mail that comes to my house."

"Leamos is one of the best educational products for helping adults learn to read that I've ever worked with," says Lindsay Southworth, Senior Program Manager - Adult Education and Language Learning. “I wish we had it in every language."

Those interested in the Leamos! literacy program can reach out to the Kensington Library at 215-685-9996 and be enrolled today!
