Are you missing out on the latest issue of your favorite magazine or looking for a way to read today’s copy of the Inquirer without leaving your house? The Free Library is here to help! Our online selection of magazines and newspapers is a great way to stay on top of current events, learn a new skill, or even occupy the kids—all while staying home.

Newspapers
During these uncertain times, staying abreast of the constantly changing news is crucial. You can read complete issues of the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News through the Free Library’s website. Links to both papers are available among our list of databases and provided by NewsBank, Inc. You’ll need to log in using your library card number and pin. The Inquirer provides an easy-to-read image format that mimics reading the paper in print.

Looking for news outside of Philadelphia? NewsBank also provides access to a wide variety of regional newspapers and their archives. Search for New Jersey or Delaware to read papers from the surrounding areas.

The New York Times is providing free, online access to its coverage of the coronavirus outbreak. With a valid email address, you can create an account; no subscription required. Interested in other content or historical coverage from the Times? The Free Library provides unlimited, free, 72-hour passes through New York Times Anywhere. As with the Inquirer, you’ll look for the New York Times under our list of databases and log in using your library card number and pin.

Magazines
If you usually visit your neighborhood library to browse the latest issue of your favorite magazine, look no further than RBdigital, a terrific online resource that provides access to magazines as well as audiobooks. RBDigital showcases a great selection of current magazines that cover a wide range of topics for readers of all ages.

Interested in starting a new hobby? Check out this month’s issues of American Craft, Games World of Puzzles, or Woodworker’s Journal. Using this time to focus on health and wellness? There’s Clean Eating, Mother Earth News, and WellBeing for you. There’s even OK!, Star, and US Weekly, for those of us who don’t want to miss out on the latest celebrity gossip.

Kids and Teens
RBDigital also has magazines for your little ones. You can select from the entire Highlights family: there’s Hello for our youngest library users, ages 0 to 2 years; High Five (available in both English and Spanish) for ages 2 to 6 years; and the original Highlights for kids 6 to12 years old.

Teens taking online classes will find the selection of educational magazines helpful as part of their science, history, and language arts curricula. Magazines like National Geographic, Popular Science, Smithsonian, and The Writer will stimulate growing minds and can be useful for school assignments.
